Photos From: November 26 2011

I went down to Gananoque just east of Kingston this day just to check out some good photo shooting locations.I happened to stumble on the old Gananoque Station that I had seen in some of my Dad's photos. As it turned out it was indeed an awesome shooting location from both directions.A little over from the station was a private driveway crossing the tracks which was just a little bit elevated higher than the platform at the station.
This made for for an excellent spot to catch something in both directions. Also it was very good here as there are very few wires to get in your way.
The VIA Station At Gananoque

To the east you could see for a long way down the tracks and had a clear view of anything coming from that direction. To the west you could hear the whistle from miles away so you had ample opportunity to prepare for anything approaching from either direction.
Also the station was open so you could go in and warm up between trains....LOL!

CN Rail number 2658

My first capture was from the east a CN Rail Intermodal.

VIA Rail Number 6448

Second capture was VIA Rail 6448 coming from the east as well.

Next we had CN Rail mixed freight number 8840 approaching from the the west.

Hopefully some of the rail guys will get on here and follow the blog and explain why they stick this engine in half way down the makeup.

I went out on a limb for these shots. As long as you check first and have good ears your ok.

Next we had number 8907 coming from the east.

She was made up of quite a few tank cars as you can see.

VIA Rail number 905 made a very brief stop to drop off and pick a very few passengers.I found out before the train stopped from a gentlemen waiting that they were from Oshawa and were down here to the Casino in Gananaoque and wanted to catch the train here rather than Brockville or Kingston.

VIA 6432 came to pass.
